Last Blog Post

I have enjoyed 20-Time so much. It's been so refreshing to choose what we want to learn. It is a great way of learning. I have slightly overcome my fear of cats, I don't get nearly as nervous when speaking in public now and I am more motivated than ever to fund raise. It was totally worth sacrificing a choice book for. I am hoping to continue on and become a much better volunteer. I hope this weekend I reach my goal of 2000 dollars. I know its big but it is something I want to achieve whether it be now or later. 20 Time has been beneficial to not only my proficiency as a volunteer but I also think I am a better student now. I was self-directed and we never get that in school. 20 overall was a success and I enjoyed it greatly. Hopefully we can continue to be the Humane Society, I honestly don't know what I would do without it.

Ferryn on our walk

Ferryn

This is the world's sweetest dog! She is such an amazing dog. Only one year old she is the best walker and the biggest cuddler! Come adopt Ferryn

Paws and Save a life

Nothing eventful has really happened at the shelter lately. But Gwen Malone and my family are hosting an event, Paws and save a life. It's June 7th. There will be a kissing booth with dogs, dig for gold when your pup gets to dig in the sand for treats, face painting and Hsomc gear to buy. All proceeds go to the shelter. So if you read this it's in downtown Midland and it will be a great time. Plenty of dogs, cats, kittens and puppies will be there for your petting. Come on down a see them.

Memorial Parade Blog #8

I participated in this years Memorial parade in downtown midland. Other than walking dogs I don't do much activity. Other than going for a run here or there. I walked Kateena a sixth month old Pit Bull. I found out that Pits don't do well in the heat. She over heated and ended up just lying down towards the end of the parade. That resulted in me having to carry her. I have absolutely no arm muscle so about five minutes into having to carry a 45 pound dog I felt as if i could just lie down in the middle of the parade. She rode back in my car to the shelter in a AC. I have never seen a pup love her cage so much.

Hok'ee

This is one of the strangest experiences I've ever been through. I received a phone call from my sister saying that there was a dog that had been killed and dumped on an off-roading site. The local animal control was closed at the time and wouldn't be open until Monday. No one was even certain if the animal control would get the dogs body. I felt that a dog deserved more respect that to just sit there and rot. I along with some family members and a friend headed out to see if this rumor was indeed true. Sadly it was. One of the thing that has disgusted me the most was that the body had been there since march, 3 months people drove by and did nothing. Paid no respect and  just let it rot. When I arrived there I saw it floating in the water. I have never been so furious in my life. To see  this poor innocent creature floating there. Having had the life beaten from it. It truly disgusted me. Later we discovered 7 gun shots in its side. This poor young boy died with never experiencing what it was like to be loved. This poor, innocent boy deserves so much more than to be just another forgotten life. There is a large reward for anyone with information leading to the murders arrest. They deserve to rot or sometime. Just as this dog did.

Coyer Candle

This Coyer Candle Fundraiser has gone extremely well. We are almost to our goal of selling 1000 dollars worth of candles. Which has taken a lot of work. I have been going door to door in my neighborhood selling candles which has given me some anxiety. I am afraid that people will say no or slam a door in my face. So far I've sold about 20 candles will going door to door. Only one no from a man but he was still polite. I have had some people who say they don't want a candle but that they would still like to donate. So I believe that to still be successful. I participated in my first rummage sale, we raised over 6000 dollars. I really would like to raise 2000 dollars for the humane society. Myra Lee was adopted again thank god. I just hope this is her last time getting brought out. This weekend is the Mid-Michigan pet expo and hopefully we can get some more dogs adopted. 98/125 candles sold. This expo should get for the candles sales.
