20 Time Post #1
For my 20-Time I am hoping to spread awareness about the Humane Society and Raise two thousand dollars in a upcoming Hsomc ( Humane Society of Midland County) event. Each week I plan on setting goals. For this upcoming week I am hoping to increase my volunteer days by one. An average week I volunteer 9 hours, Over spring break I would like to increase that to 12. How volunteering at the Hsomc works ; you must sign up for an orientation and go through that. Once you have completed orientation you are then placed on an email list. Every Saturday night they send out the list of shifts that need to be filled. You then respond with whatever availability you have. I have been a volunteer for a little over two years now. I have attended two expos for the Humane Society and have volunteered at around a dozen events. The Hsomc are in the red 40 THOUSAND dollars every year. My hopes are that I can make a difference and that someday the Hsomc will be in the black, meaning that they will no longer be in debt. This week I also hope to find a mentor whether it be a staff member or another volunteer I yet have to find one. Next week I will post with my failures and successes.

You are amazing! I love how you are really thinking about how you want to make a difference one step at a time. I would love to help you reach your goal, as I'm sure other class members would, too, so maybe create a way to inform us of upcoming activities we can get involved in, too! Blog on:)
